Changes in technology have altered the way I live a huge amount in just the past few years, through one device my Iphone. Crazy as it may seem before my Iphone came along the Irish Daily Star was my major source of media during workdays. Nowadays I only ever purchase a newspaper during Cheltenham week or if I know someone local who’s up in court, sure we all buy it that week. So I guess my media exposure to printed press is pretty low compared to the online media source journal.ie, which is something I’m addicted too. While holidaying in Thailand during the summer myself and my mate would get to a Wi-Fi zone, refresh all the journal stories and catch up on what’s going down in the emerald isle.
Exposure to social media was something I didn’t think was such an issue for me, that’s coming from a buck who learned how to typewrite at school. I guess it’s changed dramatically in recent years especially now I’m back in college and using technology continuously. Sure I’ve even been a bit reluctant to use some platforms as I thought “come on there a bit stupid” but hey after a while you come around. Following on, I’m probably more of a lurker on Facebook and retweeter on Twitter. Twitter is my preferred app as there more informative data there, rather than on the facebook where you’ll only see some girl posting about her kids AGAIN. We all know you have kids!!, you told us for the last 200 days continuously rant over.
Ray “I played rugby” Darcy is my radio man along with all the Sile’s on the Livline . I just can’t get enough of whining auld one’s “isn’t it terrible Joe”. Poor auld Joe afraid of his life to say anything bad about anyone, entertaining stuff all the same. Radio is constantly on in the car and when I’m at work, so it all depends on where I am on a week to week basis. That really defines how much the amount I’m exposed to on a regular basis.
I’m a Television man every time I’ve a bit of time to myself; Peaky Blinders is the top show at the moment although LoveHate has been the bomb this season. Averaging about 3 hours a day would average for me during the week but a whole lot more the weekends as the horse racing gets most of my television exposure. There is however the auld problem of the Iphone being in my hand during tv time as I flick back to it during the ad breaks, this must be a problem for advertising company if we’re all picking up our phones during the ad breaks.
